Virginia Beach-based rock artist T.S.A.F makes a striking debut with Love on a Wire” a richly layered studio project from Suburban Key Party frontman Tom Southern. Produced in collaboration with engineer and multi-instrumentalist Chris Kendrick (StepPets), the track dives deep into the tension between lust and love, and the blurred perceptions that often separate the two.

Recorded and mastered at Whiskey Bear Studio in Virginia Beach, “Love on a Wire” pulses with melodic vocal hooks, driving guitars, and a refined sense of emotional urgency. Drummer Mark Watts (Suburban Key Party) adds rhythmic fire to the track, grounding its soaring choruses and introspective verses.

Southern describes T.S.A.F as an outlet for songs that fall outside his Suburban Key Party catalog, a creative space where experimentation meets introspection. Drawing inspiration from a wide spectrum of artists including Talking Heads, The Afghan Whigs, The Bee Gees, Michael McDonald, The Cult, and modern British alt-rock influences like Nothing But Thieves, Kid Kapichi, and The Luka State, T.S.A.F brings a sound that’s both nostalgic and freshly inspired.

“I run the gamut of artists for inspiration,” says Southern. “The feeling of discovering new music I like is amazing and definitely helps me with songwriting. These days, British alternative rock has really caught my attention; the passion and production in that genre is very inspiring.”

“Love on a Wire” captures that passion — a dynamic blend of melody, emotion, and craftsmanship that cements T.S.A.F as a project to watch.

Portland’s own Rooftop Screamers, the creative brainchild of Mike Collins, returns with the powerful new video Forsaken featuring the commanding vocals of Stephen McSwain. Blending introspective lyricism with soaring rock energy, the track is a gripping reflection on loss, faith, and redemption, all wrapped in Rooftop Screamers’ signature blend of classic power pop and modern rock production.

A lifelong drummer turned songwriter and producer, Collins created Rooftop Screamers as a studio project that thrives on collaboration. Each release brings together a mix of local Portland talent and internationally acclaimed artists, creating a dynamic, evolving sound that pays homage to his heroes – David Bowie, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Jeff Lynne, and Steven Wilson.

“Forsaken” is both cinematic and intimate, showcasing Rooftop Screamers’ knack for crafting emotionally rich, sonically layered rock that resonates far beyond genre lines. The video mirrors this intensity, pairing the song’s heartfelt performance with visuals that evoke the feeling of isolation and transcendence, a journey from despair to catharsis.

After earning acclaim with their 2021 album Next Level, featured on Sirius XM’s Little Steven’s Underground Garage and championed by tastemaker Rodney Bingenheimer, Rooftop Screamers continues to rise as one of the most innovative rock collaborations out of the Pacific Northwest.

With Forsaken, Mike Collins once again proves that Rooftop Screamers isn’t just a project, it’s a movement of musical connection, creativity, and timeless rock spirit.

Dark Matter Rhapsody (DMR) returns with “The Color That Burned,” a soaring, cinematic prog-rock anthem that merges orchestral grandeur with the raw power of modern rock. Fronted by a dynamic female lead, the track delivers a cathartic explosion of emotion, part confession, part awakening, anchored in DMR’s signature blend of Symphonic Rock, Alternative Art-Rock, and Mythocore.

Drawn from their conceptual album The Painter of Invisible Colors, the single captures a pivotal moment in the story: where beauty resists capture and truth demands revelation. Sweeping strings, thunderous drums, and spotlight guitars build toward an anthemic chorus that feels both personal and epic, a sound as widescreen as the emotions it explores.

The accompanying official music video transforms this narrative into movement through interpretive dance. Dancers embody the struggle between illusion and truth, their choreography shifting from restrained to fiery as the visuals “burn” with light and color echoing the emotional crescendo of the track.

Fans of Nightwish, Within Temptation, Muse, Steven Wilson, Genesis (later era), and Epica will feel right at home in DMR’s dramatic soundscape. Each element is sculpted with cinematic precision: orchestral layers meet modern rock drive, crafting an immersive experience that transcends genres.

At its core, “The Color That Burned” embodies transformation, the painful yet purifying moment when illusion is stripped away and authenticity takes its place. It’s the sound of truth catching fire.

“Dora Lee (Gravity)” is the latest single from Rosetta West, from their released EP “Gravity Sessions.” The EP finds the band in the renowned Gravity Studios in Chicago, blazing through some fan favorites, mostly live, in just two quick days. “Dora Lee” is a song about a man haunted by a fleeting, passionate visit by a seemingly supernatural female being. The video casts the narrator in the role of a hardened tank commander still haunted by this visit even in the midst of combat.

Rosetta West is a blues rock band from Illinois. Their music frequently includes elements of psychedelia and world folk music, and their lyrical themes often venture into mysticism and spirituality. Formed in the 1990’s, Rosetta West has maintained a long, unconventional and fiercely independent underground career. They have many loyal fans around the world, and their non-Spotify releases are well worth seeking out.

From the emotional wreckage of identity, grief, and raw perception emerges “Misunderstood,” the latest music video release from Ether Thieves — a rising alt-rock duo straddling Washington DC and Traverse City, MI. With a sound steeped in 90s grit and early 2000s urgency, the track is the lead single off their upcoming debut EP The Beautiful Collapse — and it’s a cathartic gut-punch.

“Misunderstood” is more than a song — it’s a cinematic anthem for the quietly defiant. Written as a poetic cry for the unheard, the video captures the track’s lyrical gravity with haunting visuals and cityscape chaos: “Rain falls like rocks from outer space… It’s like a jail cell with the keys misplaced.” There’s isolation, beauty, and defiance woven into every frame.

Ether Thieves pulls influences from Smashing Pumpkins, Chevelle, and Nothing But Thieves, but still carve out something emotionally fresh. The layered guitars and vocals move from whisper to roar — a sound equally suited for introspection or rebellion.

The long-distance collaboration between Michael Wolpe (Super Alchemy Studios, MI) and Bob Goldberg (Psycho-Dog Studios, MD) is deeply personal, forged through loss and artistic rebirth. This project isn’t just about music — it’s a dispatch from the wild ones, those who live and love on the edge of understanding.

About Ether Thieves
“Ether Thieves began as a long-distance collaboration between two friends and musical veterans whose creative connection was forged over time and grief, including the loss of two close mutual friends who inspired the band’s name. What started as home recordings soon evolved into a shared excavation of memory, identity, and emotional truth.

The result is The Beautiful Collapse — a record that doesn’t flinch from the mess, the noise, or the beauty that rises from ruin. It’s not just music. It’s a dispatch from the wild ones.”

Rooftop Screamers is proud to announce the release of their powerful new single, “My Sanity,” a synth-driven rock anthem that explores the dark theme of gaslighting and the triumphant moment of breaking free from a toxic relationship. The song is a raw and introspective exploration of reclaiming self-worth, leaving behind manipulation, and no longer being under the spell of someone who once held control.

Written by Mike Collins, the visionary force behind Rooftop Screamers, “My Sanity” captures a deeply personal journey of emotional liberation. Featuring the distinctive, haunting vocals of Randy McStine from the legendary band Porcupine Tree, the track takes listeners on an emotional ride as the lyrics boldly confront the painful reality of being gaslit.

The song masterfully blends sweeping synths with intricate guitar work and atmospheric production, culminating in an empowering declaration of independence.
Produced by the incomparable Mark Plati, whose extensive credits include working with icons like David Bowie, The Cure and Robbie Williams, the song’s sonic landscape mirrors its thematic depth—immersing listeners in a captivating and confrontational soundscape.

“I wanted this song to reflect the moment when you finally realize the truth and find the strength to walk away,” says Mike Collins. “The feelings of doubt, confusion, and emotional strain that come with being gaslit are universal, and I hope this song can offer a sense of empowerment for those who may be in similar situations.”

“My Sanity” is now available for streaming on all major platforms. Fans of synth-driven rock, emotional storytelling, and powerful collaborations won’t want to miss this electrifying release.
